I was lucky enough to participate in Art Gallery Fabrics and Fat Quarter shop collaboration to create my version of Odori quilt. You can find all the details of this quilt along as well as a free pattern on Fat Quarter Shop website here.
Of course I couldn’t pass the opportunity to use a rainbow of colors, so for my choice of fabrics I went with AGF pure elements paired with a low volume fabric from one of the capsule lines. I know I’ve said it before but man, AGF fabrics are so soft and luxurious, I just love the feel of them.
This Odori quilt is a quick sew thanks to a pretty genius cutting method using this Spider Web ruler. l especially loved the way the quilt was coming together in the back, something about those pressed seams and color changes just make me so happy!!
Here is my finished quilt! It turned out so cheerful and bright, I love everything about it.
It also turned out to be the perfect size to employ two (very unwilling I should say) quilt holders, so I could photograph it in the morning sun.
They did eventually warm up to the idea, but not without first accepting a sweet bribe.
This quilt is really special for me because it is the first time I have tried free motion quilting. I couldn’t figure out a way to quilt that would highlight and enhance the pattern, so FMQ came to mind and now I am totally hooked.
I mean look at it!!! LOOOOK! I did that, guys! I made that with my own two hands, I am just so very proud of this new direction. I have been scared to try free motion quilting since I’ve started quilting and now I cannot wait to improve every aspect of it.
Thank you for stopping by, be sure to check out all the other participants and let me know, have you tried free motion quilting before? And if you end up making this pattern, be sure to use #agfstitched #fqsquiltalong and #odoriquilt

I’m so impressed by your first go at FMQing! (Every so often I try my hand at it and give up in frustration!) Your quilting decisions really add to the Odori design. Well done!
