I would begin by saying how surprised I am that it has been more than 2 months since I’ve last blogged, but you would know that it’s not surprising at all and I’m less than a regular visitor in our vast blogland. I’ve been sewing though, in between of everything else that happens in my life.
I’m slowly going through our house and rearranging/improving (hopefully) the rooms. Aleks’ room feels one of the least completed ones, so I wanted to add something fun in her room. Months ago I purchased a second hand bookbench for her room. It looked like this:
Seriously, it’s so embarrassing how long it took me to recover this bench *shudders*
Aleks’ room has a green/beige theme, and I had perfect fabric in mind. I’m actually not sure what it is called, but I do know that it definitely sets the color scheme in the room. Eventually I would like to paint elements from that fabric onto one of the walls, next to A’s bed. What do you think? Doable?
I cut open the old cover and used that as a template for the new one, I also had to fix the velcro straps that hold it to the bench and even reused and installed (for the first time) a hidden zipper!! This project is so full of win!
So here it is, complete with one of the favorite Christmas presents I found for Aleks’, a gorgeous handmade Kitty by LuckyJuju.
Next project: Sweet Pouch pictures!
