This is a mini that should have been finished by October 29th, which was my stop at Blossom Heart Quilts’ Bright Sky QAL. Alas, it was only finished today, but what a finish for me!
I made this mini using the pattern but switching inches to centimeters. The formula I used was: Xinches-1/4 inches= change directly to cm +1.27cm for seam allowance. This way everything matched up and turned up lovely. Finished size is 62cm x 62cm
This guy is my favorite! This is how I feel after this week that my husband spent on a business trip.
My inner star! The focal point is of course the main gal from the Ghastlies (I love love love that fabric). I put in piping around the inner panel, to give the quilt some dimension and interest. The spiderwebs and the trees are my first attempts at free motion quilting, this was a perfect non-intimidating size to practice.
I tried to loosely base the trees on the tree fabric from the Ghastlies line.
Backing is this awesome fabric my husband ordered from Spoonflower last Christmas. Best part is with all the lines you can’t see my crooked quilting!!!
I think Alyce’ Bright Sky Pattern is so fun and versatile. Although I am definitely having fun with making them minis instead of full quilts, less scary and definitely less quilting work! Come see the final link up to the Bright Sky Quilt along.
