Earlier this week I visited a fabric market, which is a giant warehouse full of little fabric stalls and it’s as dangerous as it sounds. I only have one (self imposed) rule when I go to the fabric market, which states that I can only spend as much cash as I bring and I put myself on a budget. You cannot imagine how much trouble I would get into otherwise! Of course my tastes tend to gravitate towards Japanese and American imported fabrics whose prices per meter I wont even write down due to my own denial.
Here are some of my favorite finds from last week:
Japanese prints:
Faux-retro:
I have been really liking muted “instagram filter” colors lately and the faux-retro prints, so this fabric basically jumped out at me from the rack. So hipster! There is no information on the fabric salvage besides that it is made in Taiwan (which actually pleasantly surprised me, I tend to think of Taiwanese fabric as traditional qipao style silks) These are both .5 meters and I don’t yet have any plans for it, other than to take it out of the cabinet and pretend that I’m cool and hip and vintage and not a total dork who has no clue what kids say these days.

OMG, love the puffer fish, so cute, and the Stylish Japan is beautiful, kind of like a cheater fabric, you could just use that for the quilt and call it done, really pretty.

Those little cameras are so cute. The vintage novelty fabrics that are out there lately are beyond adorable.

If you want to knock off quilt as you go and pockets in one go I can highly recommend the Tinkertote class with Tara on Craftsy, she has lots of great tips and her pockets and zips look great to. I've watched it all the way through twice, I made a test pot holder as per the class and am just about to start on a bag.

Love your list ๐ Some good goals in there and definitely accomplishable. If you are looking for any paper piecing let me know (Juliet @ tartan kiwi is one of my favorite).

Oh my god, that puffer fish fabric is AMAZING. I generally don't buy a lot of novelty type fabric, but I'd have been all over that if I'd stumbled over it in a fabric shop somewhere ๐

Wow great fabrics and fantastic list – I probably should write mine down for all to see rather than keeping it in my head! If you need a tutorial for an invisible zip just shout I have a great one I use and results are pretty good every time (in fact need to do one this week)

Oooh love them all, but the puffer fish are AWESOME. And yes, you can check number 11 off your list ๐ You will love quilt as you go, so great for scrap busting.
