Ellie’s quilt was the second quilt I’ve ever made (and to be honest I haven’t made another one yet but I’m really hoping to change that soon). Ellie is a beautiful daughter of two of our very close friends who decided to leave us behind in Taiwan and continue their non-expat life back in U.S. of A.
I made it in time (ok ok, I was a couple of months late) for her birthday, about two years ago. I didn’t use a specific pattern but I took a lot of inspiration from stacked coins quilts. This combination really reminds me of candy and chocolate, which, in my humble opinion, a necessary addition to any girls’ room.
I had embroidered her name in the back corner and hand stitched the binding because me and machine stitched binding are STILL not friends. This bias binding is probably my favorite part of Ellie’s quilt, I had made it following a tutorial online. I think it was this one but there are plenty of really well done tutorials on the interwebs.

What a gorgeous quilt! I just love the colours. And that binding – it is such a lovely finish!
